Brook Hill made quick work of Gladewater Union Grove and Frisco Legacy Christian, defeating Frisco Legacy 13-1 Tuesday after taking care of Union Grove 7-4 on Monday.

The two victories raised the Guard’s record to 7-4 on the season. Brook Hill next faces Dallas Christian at home with a first pitch scheduled for 6 p.m. Thursday at Herrington Field.

Guard 7, Union Grove 4

The Guard scored runs in the first four innings to build a 7-1 lead before finishing off an eventual 7-4 win Monday at Herrington Field.

Brook Hill’s Josh Jenkins and Tyler Overbeek each had doubles with Jenkins finishing 2 for 4 with a run scored and Overbeek 1 for 2 with a run scored. Logan Fitzgerald was 3 for 3 with 2 RBIs in the Guard victory.

Miguel Vega allowed one run on two hits with two walks and seven strikeouts in his five innings of work to get the victory. He was relieved in the sixth and seventh by Mason Kelley, Jake Shaffer and Dakota Gillespie, who combined to finish off the win. Kelley and Shaffer pitched the sixth with Gillespie delivering a scoreless seventh for the save.

The Guard jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the first inning with all three runs scoring with two outs.

Reid Hill and Logan Langford reached on walks before Campbell Fletcher delivered a two-out RBI single to score Hill. Tyler Overbeek was hit by a pitch to load the bases for Logan Fitzgerald, who laced an RBI single to right field, scoring Langford. The hit parade continued for Brook Hill with Brooks Parham following with an RBI single to score Fletcher for a 3-0 lead.

The Guard made it 4-0 in the second when Josh Jenkins led off with a double and eventually scored on an RBI groundout from Vega.

Brook Hill’s tacked on two more runs in the third inning. Overbeek led off with a double and scored on an RBI single from Fitzgerald. Fitzgerald eventually scored on an RBI groundout by Jake Shaffer.

The Guard’s seventh and final run occurred in the fourth with Seth Moss scoring on a sacrifice fly from Fletcher.

FRISCO — The Guard battered Frisco Legacy Christian, scoring 13 runs in four innings, to force the game to be called after the fifth because of the 10-run rule.

Brook Hill’s Logan Langford, Miguel Vega, Tyler Overbeek and Seth Moss had two hits apiece with Vega driving in two three runs with Langford and Fletcher each driving in two. Both of Vega’s knocks were doubles with Campbell Fletcher also delivering a two-bagger.

Langford was the beneficiary of the run support, not that he needed it, going five strong innings while allowing one run on four hits with four walks and six strikeouts for the win.

Brook Hill began the onslaught early, scoring six runs in the first inning. Josh Jenkins led off with a walk and Reid Hill was hit by a pitch for Langford, who singled home Jenkins to make it 1-0. Vega followed with an RBI double and Fletcher made it two doubles in a row, scoring Vega and Langford to make it 4-0.

Overbeek walked and Logan Fitzgerald reaching on an error to again the load the bases with still no outs. Brooks Parham made the Guard’s first out, but got an RBI out of it with a sacrifice fly. The sixth and final run occurred on an RBI single from Jenkins.

The Guard increased their lead to 8-0 in the second on an RBI single by Overbeek and Fletcher reaching on an error before eventually stealing home.

Brook Hill made it 13-1 in the fourth on RBI singles by Seth Moss and Reid Hill followed by a sac fly RBI from Langford and a two-run double by Vega.
