TYLER — Brook Hill’s Josh Jenkins doubled twice and drove in five runs as part of a 13-run onslaught as the Guard varsity took down Tyler Bishop Gorman, 13-1. The Guard remain atop the district standings for TAPPS Division II District 3 at 4-1 with Brook Hill moving to 12-6 overall.

Reid Hill won the game on the mound for Brook Hill, pitching four innings while allowing one run on three hits with no walks and five strikeouts. Tyler Overbeek struck out the side for an inning of scoreless relief.

Hill helped the Guard take a 1-0 lead in the top of the first inning when he singled to leadoff with courtesy runner Cole Fitzgerald coming home on an RBI single by Seth Moss.

Brook Hill really took over in the second inning with six runs. Logan Langford and Tyler Overbeek both singled with Brooks Parham drawing a walk. A passed ball enabled Langford to race home for a 2-0 lead.

A couple batters later, Josh Jenkins produced a bases-clearing triple that scored Logan Fitzgerald, Cole Fitzgerald and Moss to make it 5-0. The Guard were not finished with Campbell Fletcher later lacing a two-out 2-run single that scored Minchan Jeong and Miguel Vega to make it 7-0.

In the third inning, the Guard added three more runs to make the score 10-0. An RBI groundout by Parham scored Overbeek with Jenkins following a little later with a two-run double that scored Logan Fitzgerald and Moss.

A fourth-inning RBI double by Overbeek scored Logan Langford to make it 11-0.

The Guard tacked on two more runs for good measure in the fifth with Overbeek lacing a two-run single to left field that scored Tagen Parma and Fletcher for the 13-1 final. The game was called after the fifth inning because of the 10-run rule.
