A binder, dividers and a hole punch

From the desk of Celia Tucker, Academic College Counselor:

Sitting down and visiting one-on-one with students is what it’s all about. It is such fun to talk with students about plans for the future and how those plans can change from minute to minute. Having options makes life the adventure it is.

I just love it when students have made their schedule and then two days later come by filled with excitement because they have talked to a teacher about another class and realize that they now want to be part of it. Encouraging students to research and then seeing them do it is the best ever.

Seeing students get organized so that the college application process will be less stressful is also what it is all about. When a student and parent came in one day this week with a binder extraordinaire, I said, “I have to take a picture of that.” Having a place to put yearly scheduling forms, test scores, test registration information, user names and passwords, resume information, etc.,  is what has kept them sane, the parent informed me.

Again, I said, “I have to get a picture of that.”

A binder. Dividers. Tabs. A sharpie. A hole punch.

Here is to making the college application process less overwhelming.
