Ann Fox
French
As a young child, Ms. Fox traveled around the world with her parents who were in the State Department. Hearing many different languages during her childhood gave her an ease for and an interest in learning languages.
After attending high school in Tyler, Texas, Ms. Fox applied to be an exchange student to a French or Spanish speaking country since she already knew some of those languages. When the response from the exchange organization arrived, the only option given was to go to Germany! So, she learned all the German she could learn in four weeks and went to Munich to live with a German family for one year.
Upon returning home, Ms. Fox attended the University of Texas at Austin and received a Bachelor’s degree in Political Science with a minor in French and German. Not interested in teaching at that time, she pursued the business world for several years in the field of investment banking.
Something was missing, and she realized that teaching would be much more fulfilling because of her love for young people. In 1990 Ms. Fox became certified to teach French and German and accepted her first position in the International Baccalaureate Program at John Tyler High School in Tyler. In 2000, she joined the staff of The Brook Hill School.
