Jamie Reason

Lower School Strings Instructor
Jamie Reason, a native of California, began her musical studies at the age seven on the piano and at the age of nine began learning the violin through the public school music program. She earned her Bachelor of Music Education degree and teaching credentials in Instrumental Music from Holy Names College in Oakland, CA. and completed graduate studies at Kansas State and San Jose State Universities. Jamie has served as a school music director for eight years in California and Longview directing orchestra, choir, and even marching and jazz band. She took a leave from teaching to raise three children, but continued to play violin in symphonies and taught private violin/viola lessons.
In August of 2000, Jamie returned to teaching music in the schools and joined The Brook Hill School faculty while her three children joined the Brook Hill student body. She and husband Steve are parents of three Brook Hill graduates: Sarah (’03), Andrea (Valedictorian ’05) and Ben (’07).
Jamie has also been a violinist with orchestras such as the Fremont Philharmonic & Hayward Symphony in CA, Longview and Marshall Symphonies in Texas, and has been performing for over twenty seasons with the East Texas Symphony. She is first violinist with the Tyler String Quartet, adjunct violin teacher with the UT Tyler Music Department, operates a private violin studio, violinist at Bethel Bible Church, and freelances throughout the Tyler/East Texas area. Jamie continues to serve as a clinician and adjudicator for the Tyler Youth Orchestra, music camps and contests.
