Mrs. Kathy Johnson
Second Grade


Kathy Johnson earned a Bachelor of Education in Elementary Education at East Texas State University with an Early Childhood Endorsement and holds a Masters of Education in Reading from The University of Texas at Tyler and earned academic honors.  She is certified by the state of Texas in Kindergarten and Elementary Education K-8 and is also a certified Reading Specialist K-12. She has extensive experience and coursework in gifted and talented education and has trained with national leaders in literacy education.  Her experience consists of 30 years teaching kindergarten, first grade, second grade and fifth grade.  She has served as the Elementary Literacy Specialist from grades PK-5 in her previous school, trained teachers throughout the East Texas area in the most recent researched literacy practices and is currently the Literacy Leader and Literacy trainer for teachers in The Brook Hill Lower School.  Mrs. Johnson’s hobbies include reading, research and enjoying her family.  She is beginning her fiftth year at Brook Hill.
