Kelly Simmon
Lower School Music Teacher
Mrs. Simmon has been involved in music since she was a young girl. A soprano, she began her training in classical voice and opera in the fourth grade! She studied under Lois Alba in Houston, Texas throughout high school, attended Clements High School in Sugar Land, Texas, and performed all over the city in the area of opera and musical theatre. After high school, Mrs. Simmon attended Dallas Baptist University where she studied vocal performance and music education with an emphasis in choral conducting.
Immediately following college, Mrs. Simmon began teaching music in Duncanville ISD. She began her Master’s work in Education with an emphasis in Curriculum & Instruction at the University of Texas at Arlington. While at Duncanville ISD, Mrs. Simmon received several grants from the Education Foundation to further music in her school and, at the age of 25, became an inductee and member of the International Society for Key Women Educators, Delta Kappa Gamma. Following her teaching in Duncanville ISD, she taught 3-5th grade Humanities at The Canterbury Episcopal School in DeSoto, TX.
In 2005, Mrs. Simmon and her family moved to Scottsdale, AZ. While there, Mrs. Simmon studied under former Metropolitan Opera Mezzo-Soprano, and founder of Phoenix Opera, Gail Dubinbaum. She and her family have recently moved back to Texas in the last year and are excited to be back home.
Mrs. Simmon is married to Michael and they have three boys. They attend Grace Community Church in Tyler. Mrs. Simmon is thrilled to be joining The Brook Hill School family and looks forward to making and sharing many magical memories in the upcoming years.
