First graders played ISpy at the museum while learning about the different wars and Presidents. We used our math skills to count buttons, flags, musical instruments and many other items.

In an effort to connect this literature to American history, students compared the different battles within the story of Beowulf with the battles America has fought since it was founded as a nation. Students observed similarities in acts of valor, speeches, causes, effects, and even motivations.
