Quest 12
College Quest 12 provides seniors with one-on-one and group
instructional time with the Academic Guidance Counselor. During
this time, issues related to college and financial aid planning
will be discussed. Seniors will be required to take the ACT
or SAT in the fall semester and to apply to a certain number
of colleges and scholarship programs throughout the school year.
Seniors will also experience mock admissions/scholarship interviews
and will have all of their college applications reviewed and
sent through the Academic Guidance Office.
College
Quest 9-11
College Quest 9-11 provides upper school students with one-on-one
and group instructional time with the Academic Guidance Counselor.
During this time, issues related to academic planning, college
planning, test preparation, and the college process will be
discussed. Each year, common academic skills, such as note-taking
methods, study techniques, organizational strategies, and standardized
test preparation, will be discussed.
9th
grade
Students in the ninth grade will focus on high school academic
and extracurricular planning. These students will be encouraged
to develop and follow an academic plan and an extracurricular
plan. By starting and maintaining a personal portfolio, students
will begin creating, updating, and revising their college admission/scholarship
résumé.
10th
grade
Students in the tenth grade will focus on “setting themselves
apart” in the college process. With topics including summer
enrichment programs, mentoring, volunteering, and leadership,
students will be able to choose activities outside of school
that will be impressive to admissions professionals.
11th
grade
Students in the eleventh grade will focus on a more in depth
review of the college process. These students will learn what
to expect when facing the college application and financial
aid processes. Topics will include: college application, résumé,
essay, letters of recommendation, scholarship searches and applications,
and other financial aid programs. Students will be required
to take the ACT or the SAT each semester and to provide a short
list of researched colleges/universities being considered for
application.
College
Quest 6-8
College Quest 6-8 provides middle school students with one-on-one
and group instructional time with the Academic Guidance Counselor.
During this time, issues related to career selection, academic
planning, and the college process will be discussed. Each year,
common academic skills, such as note-taking methods, study techniques,
and organizational strategies, will be discussed.
6th grade
Students in the sixth grade will focus on exploring various
careers and professions. These students will complete a career
assessment in order to match their interests and abilities to
a list of career options. Students will also be exposed to a
variety of careers through guest speakers.
7th
grade
Students in the seventh grade will focus on academic planning
as it relates to high school course selection. The students
will discuss the various academic choices that they will be
faced with in high school and how best to prepare for high school
now. Students will discuss topics such as transcripts, GPA,
credits, and graduation requirements.
8th
grade
Students in the eighth grade will focus on the college process,
including selection of a college, application to college, and
financial aid. Students will be encouraged to research colleges
and different financial aid programs. Students will get the
chance to “ask the experts” through guest speakers. In addition,
