Allow me to introduce you to Mrs. Ashley Bouwer, the Residence Life College Guidance Counselor.  One of the most commonly cited reasons that parents give for sending their child to the Brook Hill Boarding School is the nurturing environment fostered by the caring Brook Hill faculty and staff.  In addition to knowing that their child will be loved and nurtured, we know that parents also highly value the college-prep atmosphere and agenda found at Brook Hill.

Mrs. Bouwer is an integral part of that College Guidance process.  The added value that she brings to our boarding community includes the following:

• Taking time to hear our students out, discerning their gifts, aptitudes and goals, and encouraging them along certain major or career paths while encouraging them along the pursuit of that major or career path
• Researching a student’s chosen major among the different schools that have a strong program for that major and that will be a good fit for that student
• Reviewing applications, resumes and essays before students submit them to their desired college or university
• Writing college and university recommendation letters for seniors
• Insuring that students are on track for graduation in regard to the number of classes taken in each category as required by the State of Texas.  This is particularly critical for boarding students as some of our students come to us with varying levels of credits depending on what type of school system from which they are transferring.  Once that is determined, Mrs. Bouwer then sets their academic schedule according to their specific needs based on graduation requirements.
