GIRLS BASKETBALL TEAM LOOKS FOR EXCITING SEASON

The Brook Hill Lady Guard Basketball Team is looking forward to another exciting season under legendary Head Coach Curtis Corley.

Corley who is one of the most winningest girl basketball coaches in Texas High School history with 688 wins, expects his young 2008-09 team, to get their "feet wet" in a hurry by playing a tough non-district schedule, as well as moving into a new district that features some healthy home town rivals.

Last years team had a successful season advancing into the state playoffs.  "We graduated four senior starters so this years team will have a new look with several young players looking to fill the open spots" Corley notes.  Lone returning starter Erica Eden will team up with varsity lettermen Amy Jo Teague, Mary Caroline Seldon, and some talented newcomers in Tessa Hutchinson, Yasma Smith, Emily Brunner, Jamal Christopher, Jenny Henderson, Kelsy Barton, and sally Lee.

With the addition of another new gym on campus, Corley says his players are "excited" about the upcoming season.  "We have all the ingredients for a great year."

And Corley should know.  The longtime coach of the LaPoyner Flyerettes had 8 teams in the state tournament, winning it all in 2004. Corley's record at LaPoyner was an amazing 655-146.  Corley is now in his 30th year of coaching, 24 of those at LaPoyner, and now in his 3rd year as the Head Coach of the Brook Hill Lady Guard.  Coach Corley's teams are 33-23 in his first two seasons.

The Lady Guard opens the season Nov. 18th at Full Armor Academy as part of a girls/boys doubleheader.
