FRISCO — Brook Hill broke open a 7-7 tie by scoring nine runs in the eighth inning to defeat Frisco Legacy Christian 16-7 on Thursday.

The Lady Guard completed a dominant first week of TAPPS District 2-4A play with wins over Tyler Grace Community (12-1), Tyler Bishop Gorman (15-0) and Legacy Christian to raise their overall record to 11-3-1 and 3-0 in district.

Against Legacy Christian, Taylor Schultz drove in five runs with AD Kuechle finishing with four RBIs and Maddie Anthony accounting for three RBIs.

The Lady Guard had five players finish with two hits or more, led by Maddie Parker (4 for 5) and Kasey Anderson (4 for 5).

Brook Hill rocked Legacy Christian for five home runs in the game and eight extra-base hits overall. Kuechle smacked two homers with Maddie Anthony, Lexi Crenshaw and Alyssa Duplichain also going deep for the Lady Guard.

Duplichain got the win in relief of starter Schultz, delivering 2 and 1/3 scoreless innings, allowing one hit with seven strikeouts.

Brook Hill the trailed  7-5 entering the top of the seventh inning before using two swings to tie the game.

Kuechle led off with a solo home run to cut Brook Hill’s deficit to 7-6. Then with one out, Crenshaw tied it up with a solo homer of her own.

The game went into extra innings with Brook Hill delivering the biggest blow at the best time in the form of a nine-run eighth inning. Schultz gave the Lady Guard the lead with a two-run double followed by a two-run homer from Kuechle and solo shot by Duplichain. With two outs, Anthony dialed long distance with a three-run home run to make it 15-7 and Parker doubled and scored on an error for the 16-7 scoreline.
