Lady Guard blast Tyler Bishop Gorman, 22-0

Brook Hill scored early and often and then added even more for good measure Friday in a 22-0 onslaught victory over Tyler Bishop Gorman.

Five Lady Guard players crossed home plate three times with nearly everyone on the active roster registering either a hit or a run.

Brook Hill finished with 23 hits overall with Maddie Anthony, Taylor Schultz, Kasey Anderson, Lexi Crenshaw and Morgan Moss all finishing with three hits. Lady Guard’s Maddie Parker, Schultz and Moss also had four RBIs apiece with Maddie Anthony driving in three, and Vanna Dean and A.D Kuechle driving in two.

Of their 23 hits, 14 went for extra bases, highlighted by home runs from Morgan Moss and Taylor Schultz.

Kasey Anderson started the game for Brook Hill in the circle with Taylor Schultz entering in the second inning. The two combined to give up two hits with eight strikeouts.

The game was called after the fourth inning because of the 15-run rule.

The visitors threatened to score in the top of the first with two two-outs singled and an error loaded the bases, but Anderson ended those thoughts with a strikeout to end the inning.

The Lady Guard quickly went in front 2-0 on a 2-run homer from Schultz in the bottom of the first inning. Schultz’s blast scored Maddie Parker, who had been hit by a pitch with one out.

Brook Hill was not done — not by a longshot.

A sac fly by Lexi Crenshaw scored AD Kuechle to make it 3-0 with Morgan Moss following with an inside-the-park two-run homer to make it 5-0.

The hit parade continued with Maddie Anthony powering a two-run double to score Vanna Dean and Kaitlyn Juarez followed by an RBI double from Maddie Parker to score Maddie Anthony and make it 8-0.

An RBI single from Taylor Schultz scored Maddie Parker for a 9-0 lead with Schultz racing home on an RBI double by AD Kuechle to make it 10-0 before the third and final out was made to mercifully end the bottom of the first for the visitors.

Brook Hill’s did not reach the 15 runs needed to end the game after three innings, falling one short, so the Lady Guard tacked on nine runs in the bottom of the fourth to trigger the mercy-rule. Highlighting the bottom of the fourth: Vanna Dean had a two-run double, Maddie Anthony had an RBI double, Maddie Parker had an RBI single, Taylor Schultz had an RBI triple and AD Kuechle had an RBI single.

The final out ended the inning and the game as Brook Hill raised its TAPPS District 2-4A record to 6-1.
