Lady Guard soccer in second place after 3 district games

The Brook Hill girls soccer team sit in second place in the district standings after three games.

The Lady Guard are 2-1 (3-5-1 overall) TAPPS Division II District 2 following Tuesday’s 2-1 in over Tyler Al Saints.

In their other district matchups, the Lady Guard lost to first-place Tyler Grace and routed Tyler Bishop Gorman.

In their 5-1 loss to Grace, coach David Collins praised the efforts of goalkeeper Heather McLarry, who finished with 13 saves, adding “she played incredible.”

The Lady Guard got their goal on a strike from Caroline Welty off a pass by Julia Hardiman.

In a 5-1 win over Gorman, the Guard received four goals from Morgan Carpenter and another by Avery Latson.

Hardiman finished with three assists with Latson and Morgan Carpenter also delivering helpers.

McLarry finished with three saves in the victory.

In the 2-1 win over All Saints, Carpenter was on target again with two goals, both assisted by Julia Hardiman. McLarry finished with nine saves.

Brook Hill next faces Sabine in a non-district contest on Friday at home with a 5 p.m. kickoff at Herrington Stadium.
