Lower School Notes for Parents

From the desk of Sandra Fritcher:

By now, you have received the most important word about how this school year has begun – the informal reports given to you by your son or daughter. The faculty and staff at the Lower School hope those reports are positive. It seems to all of us that these first weeks have been a fine beginning of what should be a productive school year.

We are pleased to have you as partners in this educational year. One of our goals is to see that the parents of our students feel at home at the Lower School. One of the ways to accomplish this is to keep you informed. Teacher Newsletters are sent home every Thursday throughout the school year, providing you with information about school events and classroom activities.

Another great resource for Lower School information is the Brook Hill web page. Log on to www.Brookhill.org and click “Parent Link” to learn about important news and activities. The web calendar shows all Lower School events. Changes in the schedule will be reflected on this up-to-date document. Also, the Parent Survivial Guide lists all of the procedures, rules, etc. at the Lower School. There is a reason for every procedure that helps all of us meet the goals of our program. Most of these procedures are in place for communication, efficiency, and safety. Supply lists for each grade are available on line, as well as your child’s lunch and Cadet Club accounts.

We welcome visitors at the Lower School, but for security reasons, the entrance doors to the building are locked during the school day. You will need to ring the buzzer, and Mrs. Stephenson will acknowledge you and allow you to enter the building. Visitors must then check in with the office and get a visitor’s pass.

We are glad to have you with us this year, and we want to assure you that we will do our best to help your child experience academic, social, and emotional growth. We look forward to an excellent school year.
