4. Balanced scholarship – Rigor in the basics supporting an exciting adventure in learning.

5. Age appropriate activities - Hands-on exploration, discovery, and creativity which enhance the enjoyment of the learning process in early childhood and pre-adolescent children. (Simply sitting, listening, and filling out worksheets are not age appropriate activities.)

6. Multi-modal – Instructional design using auditory, visual, and kinesthetic avenues into the brain.

7. Brain research sensitive – Utilizing instructional strategies that reflect what brain research has revealed over the last few years incorporating strategies that reflect the best practices of highly effective teachers.

8. Maintaining rigor – Our goal is to find the most efficient means for children to master facts and skills quickly and then move on to applying them to higher level thinking, exploration and creativity.

9. A commitment to a building design (already underway) that supports a balanced interactive instructional program which includes room sizes that accommodate learning centers and exploratory education and outdoor learning spaces for even more hands-on, investigative learning.
