Arts (Communication)
Since
reading, writing, speaking, and listening well are important to
all we do in college and the rest of life and is the sole sign
of a well educated individual, lower school scholars at The Brook
Hill School will develop and strengthen their communication skills
in reading, writing, listening, and speaking. Students will explore
some of the finest literature available as they learn to become
enthusiastic and avid readers. Writing and speaking will become
an adventure as they learn to express themselves clearly, creatively,
and persuasively. Students will experience comprehensive instruction
that focuses on explicit and direct instructional strategies to
build important foundational skill in phonics, vocabulary, punctuation,
and grammar which free them to read, write, and speak with success
and enjoyment. A print-rich classroom environment is available
to provide reading resources, ideas, models, and platforms to
explore and learn the writing process in much the same way accomplished
authors do.
