Softball: Lady Guard take care of Frisco Legacy Christian in opening round

The Lady Guard varsity scored three runs in the fourth inning to get past Frisco Legacy Christian in their first round of the TAPPS Division II softball playoffs.

Brook Hill’s Kasey Anderson delivered a complete game in the circle with catcher Maddie Anthony driving in three runs as part of a 7-4 victory.

The Lady Guard led 3-1 after two innings after an RBI double from AD Kuechle in the first scored Anderson in the first and RBI singles by Anthony and Anderson in the second. Anthony’s single drove in Cassie Cannon, who had reached on an error with Anderson plating Anthony.

An RBI triple from Anthony in the bottom of the fourth scored Cannon to increase the lead to 4-1. A bunt single by Alyssa Duplichain drove in Anthony with Anderson also coming home on the throw for a 6-1 lead.

With the score 6-3, the Lady Guard added an insurance run in the bottom of the sixth Anthony singling home Natalie Travis, who was courtesy running for Vanna Dean after she walked.
