Athletic Director Wally Dawkins announced the hiring of Judy Kniffen Clardy as the new Head Tennis Coach at Brook Hill.
Clardy, a graduate of Tyler Lee High School, TJC, and Abilene Christian University was recently inducted into the Tyler Junior College Sports Circle of Honor for her success as a tennis player during her college career. Clardy's team won the NJCAA National Championship in 1982 and finished 2nd in 1983 while she was ranked both years as the Number 1 Womens Tennis Player in the nation. Clardy then advanced in singles to the NCAA Division II Championships in 1984 and 1985. Clardy was selcted to the All-American Teams all four years of her college career. Ms. Clardy was also selected into the ACU Sports Hall of Fame in 1994.
Clardy is the daughter of former TJC and UT-Tyler Tennis Coach Legend Fred Kniffen. She is married to Travis Clardy, and the couple has 4 boys. Blake a graduate of Pepoerdine University, Gus who attends Pepperdine is a member of the Men's Basketball Team, and Luke and John who are seniors at Brook Hill.
"Judy Kniffen Clardy has been hired by Brook Hill to propel our Tennis program to a level that will be among the state's best" Dawkins announced Tuesday.
"We believe she is the right person to take our program to the top."
