Cast for Best Christmas Pageant Ever Announced!

Third through Fifth graders recently auditioned for a role in the play, The Best Christmas Pageant Ever. We have a very talent group of students who will be bringing this heartwarming story to the stage on December 15 at the Brook Hill Lower School.

Mrs. Bell’s Prekindergarten students drew pigs as a response to the story, If you Give a Pig a Pancake, by Laura Numeroff. We also learned about the ingredients in pancakes and where some of the ingredients really originate such as: eggs, milk, butter, and maple syrup.

Kindergarten Spanish Learns About Animals

Kindergarten Spanish students acted out the story, “La Gallinita Roja”, The Little Red Hen.  They made masks to represent which animal they were:  la gallina – the hen, el perro – the dog, el gato – the cat, or el ratón – the mouse.  The students participated in the story while studying animals in Spanish.

Author Sarah Wynn visited The Brook Hill Lower School to read her new book, The River Royals Master the Mississippi. Sarah is a former student of principal, Sandra Fritcher. Students enjoyed learning about the places and people made famous along the Mississippi. .

Happy St. Patrick’s Day

Students in Mrs. Haugh’s Kindergarten class participated in St. Patrick’s Day learning activities. Graphing with Lucky Charms cereal was a fun way to apply mathematics skills. Mrs. Newsome and Mrs Haugh wish everyone a Happy St. Patrick’s Day. Library lesson included folktale stories from Ireland. Students followed leprechaun footprints to treasure.
