INNOVATION AND ROCK FORMATIONS

October 31, 2019

Middle School science students took to the Innovation Lab this past week to wrap up an Earth Science project by creating persuasive presentations!   Each student was assigned a famous rock formation to research. They were to find information which would help convince people to visit their specific formation. Once students completed their research, they […]

Science Lab – Creating a Spirit of Wonder & Inquiry

September 27, 2019

Memorizing facts and recalling equations have their place in learning, without a doubt. But seeing those equations and facts, the talked about theories come to life. That’s what we’re excited about in our science labs!   Middle School science teacher, Jenny Wallace’s 8th-grade class collaborated in groups this week to measure the mass and volume […]

All Creatures Great and Small

April 24, 2015

There is never a dull day in Kindergarten! From watching a hamster rolling around on the floor to observing growing, changing tadpoles, learning is interesting and exciting. Mrs. Newman’s kindergarten students watch their pet hamster roll around on the classroom floor while other students observe their tadpoles swimming and developing into frogs. “One lost his tail!” […]

Science Demonstration of Bernoulli’s Principle

April 24, 2015

After the testing this week, 4th graders entered the science classroom to floating ping-pong balls. The kids asked, “What’s going on here?” Mrs. Brindley explained that  the floating ping-pong ball is a wonderful example of  Bernoulli’s principle. Bernoulli, an 18th-century Swiss mathematician, discovered something quite unusual about moving air. He found that the faster air flows over the surface […]

PreKindergarten Students Learn about Germs

March 27, 2015

PreKindergarten students recently discovered that clean hands spread less germs than dirty hands! They experimented touching slices of bread with dirty hands and clean hands and then waited a few days to see what happened to the bread. The results are pictured below. We now know why we need to wash our hands!

Kindergarten Students Research About Hibernation

February 04, 2015

Do you know which animals hibernate during the winter months?  Just ask one of our kindergarten students. After researching, creating posters, presenting information to classmates, and even pretending to hibernate in a cave, students are quite the experts!  Here are just a few examples of the interesting research projects.

Kindergarten Activities

Kindergarten students are learning many new things as evidenced by the interesting displays in the halls. Mrs. Newman’s students listened to Chicka Chicka Boom Boom by Bill Martin Jr.  and created alphabet trees. Mrs. Haugh’s students created a displaying showing their five senses. Learning can be fun…just ask any kindergarten student!
