15th Annual Fall Dinner Theatre

In just a few days, one of Brook Hill’s most recognized annual traditions will take center stage….the annual fall Dinner Theatre production. This year’s play is a delightful comedy called “You Can’t Get There From Here,” and it features senior Kelsey Grace Kilgore as Aunt Liz, the proprietor of a quaint Bed & Breakfast in Shadow Falls, in her fourth and final BH dinner theatre show. The cast includes senior Jazmen Jones and freshman Kyle Webb, each appearing in their first dinner theatre play, as well as veteran BH actors Caleb Wagner, Claire Dixon, Allison Childers and Sheri Russell, each in their second dinner theatre production.

The absolutely “scrumptious” menu will follow a seasonal “harvest” theme featuring a first course of butternut squash soup and bread, followed by an entree of fire-grilled steak, grilled asparagus wrapped in maple flavored bacon and a sweet potato puree’, all topped off with a dessert of pumpkin cheesecake filled cannoli. The meal alone is worth the price of a ticket! But wait, we’re not finished yet…………

You also will be treated to a wonderfully staged comedy, a story of a time and place far removed from the hustle and bustle of our modern society. Director Glenn Ballard said, “We really enjoy performing the work of playwright Pat Cook. His plays are built from witty, fast-paced dialogue and very comedic characters and character relationships. This script is a very good fit for my cast. It allows each of them to create something really memorable and entertaining. You will laugh, and then laugh again.” After last year’s Edgar Allen Poe “Night Chills” it will be an evening of fun and laughter the whole family will enjoy.

And if the on-stage laughter whets your appetite for more than just punchlines, imagine taking the magic of that harvest menu outdoors. There’s just something extra charming about grilling dinner under a starlit sky—smoke curling lazily above, the crackle of flame adding its own rhythm to the evening. Set up a cozy table near the grill, string a few warm lights overhead, and you’ve got yourself a dinner theatre of your own, starring the scent of sizzling steak, maple-kissed bacon, and that golden sweet potato puree warming in a cast iron pot.

For those who like a bit of old-world flair with their fire, the rocket stove delivers both efficiency and experience. Compact yet powerful, it channels heat so cleanly that your squash soup can bubble in a Dutch oven while asparagus crisps gently in a pan beside it. The best part? No need for fancy tech—just dry twigs, a bit of know-how, and an appetite for seasonal comfort food. It’s the kind of meal that makes you forget your phone, gather close, and stay for one more helping… or maybe just one more good laugh.

Seating is limited and reservations are required, so call Donna Dean at (903) 894-5000 today and reserve your seats.

Even though everyone is terribly busy, you don’t want to miss this show. It also affords you an opportunity to “show-off” BH to your friends and prospective families. Invite a neighbor, a co-worker, your boss, or relatives…..you’ll be glad you did!
