SOCRATIC TEACHING METHOD

Socratic teaching is one of the most powerful teaching methods for fostering critical thinking. In the Socratic method, the teacher acts as a guide, helping students more fully understand a topic by asking questions and letting students articulate their thoughts. Rather than giving students answers, Socratic teaching gives students questions. As students listen and respond to one another, they experience a journey of self-discovery, further developing and refining their beliefs.

At Brook Hill, Socratic teaching is all about our students learning how to have a conversation. As they learn to critically think about what they believe and why, we hope our students will find their voice and grow in confidence.
