3rd Grade Elections

What’s the best way to learn about elections? Hold one, of course! That’s what Mrs. Newsom’s and Mrs. Bickerstaff’s third grade students did. After discussing and reading about the campaign and election process, the students chose two candidates for class president. The candidates chose campaign workers who helped them write the speech they gave to the class. Newspaper reporters interviewed the candidates and held an on air news report to tell their conclusions. Other campaign workers made posters, bracelets, signs, and badges to carry and wear on campaign day. The candidates did a great deal of handshaking during lunch! A ballot was created and a voting place set up with election officials to make sure no one tried to vote twice! Our elected class president is Beck Langemeier and Kaydee Meister is our new vice-president. Congratulations to all for learning how to be a good citizen!
