5th Grade Roller Coaster Lab

After studying how energy transfers from potential to kinetic energy in a roller coaster, 5th graders were given the challenge to  build one out of sentence strips and tape.  Students were given the task of building the slowest roller coaster with at least 4 ramps, 2 tunnels, 1 trap door and a surprise.  The slowest time for a marble to roll to completion was 6.89 seconds built by Jessie Glenn, Mattie Cheatham, and Kayla Dahn.
All the students found this to be a fun and engaging challenge!
