6th Grade Art Makes Sculptures
Sixth grade art has been studying about artist Helen Cordero a Pueblo Indian, and her famous Storyteller of 1964 in slipped and painted earthenware. Codero’s art was about how the role of storytellers preserved the history of the Pueblo Indians. They are making their own contemporary version of a “storyteller” in order to introduce them to ceramics and at the same time learning about how a storyteller impacts the way that history and stories are transferred to the young in our culture today.
