6th Grade Learns Parts of Speech through Competition

The 6th graders learned to identify the parts of speech through a competition in Mr. Roquemore’s Humanities class. Students were asked to create a team of three and line up in the front of the classroom. Note cards with a random assortment of words were placed in the back of the classroom. After Mr. Roquemore called out a part of speech, such as preposition or verb, each team sent a member to find a word that fit the description. The first three teams to find a correct word kept the note card. At the end of the competition, each team created a complete sentence from the words they had won while competing.
