8th Graders Participate in Regional Science Fair
8th graders traveled to Kilgore College to participate in the regional science fair. During the time that judges were evaluating the projects, students were treated to lots of interactive science labs such as chromatography, polymer making and flame tests of different chemicals.
When it came time for awards, the day got even better!
Paintball Ballistics by Peyton Adams, Caleb Collins, Jared Johnson placed 7th overall and qualified to go to state!
Emma Bynum, Hayden Hommel and James Shipp’s project tested flame colors of various elements in salt. It received a special award in the chemistry category: Second place American Chemical Society award for excellent chemistry-related project (and a cash prize of $20 for each student)!
Congratulate these students on such incredible accomplishments!
