A Mock Congress of Vienna in Junior AP Humanities
Juniors in Ms. O’Brien’s AP Humanities class staged a mock Congress of Vienna, complete with delegations from Great Britain, Russia, Austria and Prussia. Students researched each country’s history regarding the settlement in 1810 and debated the division of European states after Napoleon was deposed. Due to some sharp negotiation, the French delegation brokered a better deal than France actually got in the historical account of the treaty. Students realized just how difficult it is to come to a mutually-acceptable agreement and learned a valuable lesson regarding the art of negotiation.
