A True Investment
From the desk of Brian Nelson, Academic Dean:
For students, attending a private school is a sacrifice. Rigorous academics contribute to more writing, reading, and thinking. You have to work harder and more is expected of you.
For parents, sending your child to a private school is a sacrifice. Financially, you are dedicating precious resources to send your child or children to Brook Hill. You are driving further to drop off in the morning. You have to juggle summer reading and vacation each year.
It is a sacrifice, but it is also an investment.
In 2015, ACT released statistics confirming that private education is valuable. The national averages for private and independent schools on the ACT exam and all its subsections (English, math, reading, science and writing) are 3 to 4 points above the averages of public school students. In fact, over 20% more private school seniors taking the ACT in 2015 met or exceeded the test’s college readiness benchmarks.
This points to two distinct advantages of private education. Better test scores and better preparation for college success. This is an investment that leads to a significant return. Scholarship money, competitiveness in the college application process, graduating college on-time or even early, less college loan debt, and the list continues. The sacrifice you are making to be a part of the Brook Hill community is a very wise investment indeed.
