Brook Hill Is So Much More

EXTRAS! EXTRAS! READ ALL ABOUT THEM!

Brook Hill-college prep and so much more!  YES, we are a unique college prep school where your children are given a great education and challenged daily to reach their highest potential. Brook Hill is a place where students have opportunities to earn college hours through our dual credit program and  go on annual grade level college trips so that they can compare campuses and see what appeals to them individually.  Brook Hill students have a variety of course options, extra-curricular activities to choose from and get to go to school with people from all over the world!  Opportunities like all of these are extraordinary at our school, but there is still more!

This week I was reminded of some of the “extras” that Brook Hill students experience! The teachers and staff on campus pour into your sons and daughters in such incredible ways.  On Wednesday during chapel Mrs. Nichole Huggins, our 11th grade Humanities teacher, spoke to upper school students and brought a very powerful message to them.   Psalm 46:10 says “Be still, and know that I am God.” Mrs. Huggins carefully explained this verse and by using personal experiences was able to capture the attention of her young crowd and encourage them to “be still” and realize that Christ wants to be part of their daily life.   As I listened to her speak so passionately, I sat there thinking of how incredible this is for our students to hear  from one of their classroom teachers and how lucky we are that chapel is an extra part of our normal week.  To top off that experience, every Thursday we get to dig deeper into these topics during Advisory when we meet in small groups where students have opportunities to ask questions and be heard.

Another big “extra” coming up at Brook Hill is an opportunity for our parents to come on February 16th at 6:30 pm to hear a presentation by Jordy Barksdale on social networking, Social Media 101,  and how it affects and impacts the life of your student.  Please mark your calendars and take advantage of this event.

I am so thankful for the many small things which are actually huge things that happen all the time at Brook Hill!  Growing young people to become strong leaders in Christ is a priority here and because of that I am EXTRA honored to get to be a part of it all.
