BROOK HILL JUNIORS EXPLORE FUTURE CAREERS

Thirteen Brook Hill students recently attended a career event hosted by the Tyler Chamber of Commerce that provided an opportunity for students to explore future careers as they navigate dreaming and decision making for their future.

The Chamber of Commerce Career Connections (C4) Event is a one-day event that links students and real-world workplace experiences. The goal is to provide Smith County students with an opportunity to begin career exploration during their final high school years by connecting them to over 60 local, premier, business professionals.

C4 was a relaxed discussion format, which allowed these professionals to spark student conversation by sharing work experiences, successful moments, challenges and personal backgrounds. The sessions were interactive and allowed students to ask questions and share concerns.

Our students experienced hands-on interviewing and resume reviews with human resource professionals as a part of the event as well! In addition to networking and learning about careers, students also benefited from the expertise of local finance professionals and learned simple and basic ways to manage their money.

Making a decision about college, what you’ll major in, or what you would like to do for the rest of your life is a weighty one for our students. It’s both exciting and at times daunting, to dream and plan for the future. Our goal is to provide as many opportunities as possible for Brook Hill students to explore their interests, skills, and abilities during their time as a student so that they’re ready to step into their future when the time comes.
