Brook Hill Life is in full force

From the desk of Michelle Rozell, Upper School Principal:

The upper school campus at the Brook Hill School is a buzz with events, classes, activities and service opportunities as week three draws to an end. The back to school aura has shifted into an All Orange blanket of enthusiasm as the Brook Hill life is in full effect.

From senior chapel, to the anticipation of the tailgate party and Warrior Bowl this weekend, to the back to school mom’s coffee, dual credit registration, Lady Guard volleyball games, and our supply drive to aide hurricane victims, students and families at the Brook Hill School are getting into the swing of “Life at Brook Hill!”

On Wednesday, the seniors led chapel, as is tradition upon the return of their senior trip. The theme was the Guard Charge: Live Pure, Speak True, Right Wrong, Serve Others, Follow the King. The student body heard from different members of the senior class that broke down each element of the Guard Charge. They spoke on each aspect and explained what it means to live and act in a manner that reflects these commands using experiences from their senior trip to Colorado as examples of lessons learned and insights gained.  What an incredible example of great leadership was demonstrated as this group enthusiastically shared about surrounding yourself with the right people and growing your faith in a way that truly depends on Christ himself when things get tough!

Another exciting event is the anticipation of the Warrior Bowl weekend it is immediately palpable everywhere on campus. Hosting a Canadian team this year, our kickoff football weekend starts with the Guard Dog breakfast Friday morning, and later that evening the Warrior Bowl Banquet, tickets available through the athletic office, to honor our visiting team. Then, on Saturday, our traditional walk to the rock with our football team will begin at 4:30 p.m. followed by the back-to-school barbeque and tailgating event that will crank up outside of Kyle Lake and will include many fun activities before and during the game. One of my most favorite events, the Parade of Nations, will occur during halftime of the football game. In a beautiful display of their country’s flag, our boarding students will be introduced and their individual countries recognized. It’s incredible to see!

In efforts to teach our students about serving others and coming to the aide of those in need, we have the opportunity to provide some much needed supplies to the people affected by Hurricane Harvey recently.  If you would like to participate, drop off your items at either of the two drop-off points, The Cabin or at the Lower School.  We will collect items through next Wednesday, then Coach Brasher and his team will deliver to areas of need.

Time at Brook Hill does not slow down after the rush of back to school rather it stays energized with many weekly opportunities, events, games and activities that provide everyone a chance to be All Orange! As our students are adjusting to their classes, homework, schedules, etc., please know that there is a great support system at our school to help our students thrive.

I am very excited to see what week 4 and beyond has in store for The Brook Hill School!
