College Kick-Off & College Fair

Juniors and their parents gathered Monday night for the “College Kick Off Event” at Brook Hill enjoying pizza, fellowship, and being inundated with information. Representatives from Tyler Junior College and Jacksonville College were in attendance to talk about Dual Credit opportunities and to stress enrollment requirements and the application process  and Stephen F. Austin spoke to the group about NCAA requirements and how important academics are in the recruitment process. Mrs. Tucker led the group through a “team” workout paralleling the admissions process with a well-executed play on the football field. Your team: the application; the opposing team: the admissions committee; the goal line: acceptance. Parent volunteers graciously  took part in playing the GPA game making it very apparent that all parts of a student’s application play a crucial role in admissions decisions. The evening was fun filled and informative!

It’s college emphasis week here at Brook Hill, and what better way to promote higher education among our students then by having representatives from tons of colleges visit with students on our campus!? This is just one of many activities we have had this week, and part of what we hope will help our students think more about college, pushing them to excel all the more while they’re here.
