Q + A
Austin! You are a Brook Hill Alum (’12), why did you want to send your children to Brook Hill?
“My experience at Brook Hill was foundational for my education and career. I was more prepared for my time in college as a student and an athlete because of BH. I went to college in Chicago and to a school with people from all over the world. I was more prepared than almost everyone around because I had already gone to school with people from all over the world. My wife and I want our kids to be prepared for what’s ahead. We want our kids to be educated in a challenging environment that doesn’t hand out grades but supports kids as they are challenged mentally, physically, socially, and spiritually. Kids can be challenged anywhere, but the support they receive at BH to grow through challenges separates BH from the rest.”
It is neat to read about the connections you made! Now that you are officially a Brook Hill parent, what have you loved about your experience?
“I have loved the intentionality of the teachers and admin. They are not there to babysit but to invest in Knox.”
That makes us happy to hear! What would you tell a prospective family interested in Brook Hill?
“I have had several of these conversations with families, many of whom are now at Brook Hill. Its the easiest thing to sell ever. It really is simply a question of finances for the family. Everything about BH is better. You have great class sizes and great teachers who actually invest; the boarding program is unlike anything else you will find. The grades are earned, the coaches are solid, and the facilities are top-shelf. The Christ-centered environment and the curriculum are not just “faith-based” but actually committed to scripture and having all policies, classes, and student-life be centered on the grace, love, and forgiveness we find in Christ and the values we find in scripture. So it really is just a financial decision. Everything else is a no-brainer. And if you are back and forth on where to invest your money, there is no better place than your kid’s future.”
“WE WANT OUR KIDS TO BE EDUCATED IN A CHALLENGING ENVIRONMENT THAT DOESN’T HAND OUT GRADES BUT SUPPORTS KIDS AS THEY ARE CHALLENGED MENTALLY, PHYSICALLY, SOCIALLY, AND SPIRITUALLY.” -AUSTIN LANGEMEIER ’12
CRAIG! You have been a part of the Brook Hill family for almost 20 years. What advice would you give to parents thinking about sending their children to Brook Hill?
“If they are “thinking about it” they should stop thinking about it and start actually sending them. HAHA! Sending our kids to Brook Hill has an enormous impact on our kids and our family. I could go on and on here…”
This is good! What has been one of your favorite Brook Hill memories with your kids?
“Literally too many great memories to pick just one. But recently it was pretty cool that our youngest son and our oldest grandson are both going to Brook Hill this year!”
