Fine Arts Week at the Lower School

The Lower School Fine Arts Week is February 29th through March 3rd. We have planned several interesting programs for the students to celebrate the week.

Monday, 2/29:  The Upper School Theater Department and Orchestra will present a short program for Prek-5th grades.
Tuesday, 3/1:  Students in 3rd-5th grades will enjoy storyteller Mary Brook Casad who has written a series of books about an armadillo that visits famous places in Texas.
Wednesday, 3/3:  Several folktales from Africa will be presented by Elizabeth Kahura for Prek-5th graders.  Also music teacher, Kevin Pierce, and art teacher, Lisa Larios, will be presenting fine arts awards during chapel on Wednesday.
Thursday, 3/4:   Prek-2nd grade classes will enjoy a dance demonstration by Courtney Bugg and friends.

Art Walk
In addition to the special programs mentioned, parents are invited to visit between 11:00 am and 1:00 pm Tuesday or Wednesday, for our Lower School “Art Walk” to view fabulous student art work and eat lunch with their child.  Art teacher, Lisa Larios, has worked very hard to make sure every child has a special product on display; parents will be amazed at the creativity expressed in the art. In addition, librarian, Ila England, has partnered with Lisa by having students research their continent highlighted in their art. These products will also be displayed outside the library. We hope to see our parents in our halls for the “Art Walk” on Tuesday, 3/1 or Wednesday, 3/2.
