“God gave her to us, now we are giving her to you.”

I’ll never forget that conversation.  I was talking with a mother and father from Nigeria.  They were in Nigeria.  I was here at Brook Hill.  The call was over something minor, like a tardy report, or something like that.  But as we talked the conversation became weightier, in a good way, culminating with the quote I used to open this blog.  While I have always taken my role as Director of Residence Life very seriously, that comment brought an even greater degree of seriousness to this ministry.  These families have given us their most prized possession, their children.  Wow!   What a high calling, to step into the shoes of 78 sets of parents from around the world.  Do me a favor.  Tonight, when you are saying your prayers, would you please add the boarding ministry here at Brook Hill to your list?  It’s no small task to stand in as a child’s mom and dad.  It is a tremendous duty, and it is our joy and pleasure carry it out, with God’s help.
