Members of the Brook Hill School’s Guard Chorale made their Carnegie Hall debut recently on a trip to the Big Apple. The singers performed with 2015 Grammy winner, Francesca Battestelli, and 2015 Dove Award New Artist of the Year winner, Lauren Daigle, in one of the most famous concert halls in the world. The students began working on their music several weeks before the trip and participated in rehearsals once they reached New York City. They performed with singers from all over the United States to a sold out crowd of over 2500. Both Battestelli and Daigle brought their full bands, in addition to a stringed quartet.

Mrs. Patti Eden, Brook Hill choral director, also made her conducting debut at Carnegie Hall. Mrs. Eden was asked to direct two songs for Daigle (including last year’s Dove Awards Song of the Year, How Can It Be?) and one song (How Great Thou Art) in which Battestelli and Daigle teamed up to end the first half of the concert. “Looking back over my 27 years of teaching, this is probably one of the most unforgettable and thrilling musical experiences of my life. I had performed in Carnegie as a choir member, but to be able to conduct a 150-member chorus, along with a stringed quartet, Lauren Daigle’s fabulous band, and 2 celebrated Christian music artists, is not something that I will soon forget. And to have this experience with some of my students made it even sweeter.”

Brook Hill students sharing in this event were Raegan Hayes, Lauren Eden, Parker Galbraith, Anne Kimball, Peyton Adams, Zoe Hayes, Chesley Kelly, Audrey Mackey, Sawyer Hayes, Abby Franks, Claire Chesley, Hannah Weber, and BH alum Nikki Evans. Also travelling with the BH group were Allyson Sharp and Bailey Cox.
