I’m a Guard

Parker(TA)-1

By Parker Clark

Being a sophomore in high school, I was comfortable with my school. I loved it. We weren’t the best in sports. We weren’t the best in education. But I was close to everybody, and I loved everybody.

I came and toured good ol Brook Hill during baseball season. I had already made up my mind that I wasn’t moving. I was staying in Rusk.

Late in the school year though, I got the news that I would be moving schools, whether I wanted to or not. I was mad. I was nervous, and I was a little scared. I had spent my last year going to school with the people I had grown up with.

The first day at Brook Hill I hated it. I was miserable. All I wanted was to go back to Rusk. I wanted to be with all my friends there. I told my parents but they didn’t care.

Thank God they didn’t care. Thank God they made me stay. I love Brook Hill. I love all the people I have met, all the friends I have made. Do I miss my friends in Rusk? Yes, but would I go back? No. I love everything about Brook Hill. I’m a Guard now, and I want to graduate a Guard. I’m here to stay!
