Juniors Study French Revolution
In an introduction to the French Revolution, students in Mrs. Huggins’ Junior Humanities class were able to understand the grievances and frustrations of the people of France. The class was divided into the Three Estates including the Clergy, Nobility, and Commoners. The Commoners were made to “work” by producing wheat crops and were compensated in Starburst for every ten bushels of grain they made. These Commoners then experienced harsh weather that wiped out over half of the crops they produced. Once compensated for their work, the tax collector visited each commoner and taxed their hard earned wages. The students were then able to share the possible emotions and grievances of the people of the estates and the underpinnings of the revolution.
