Karl Marx in Dr. Brunson’s class this week
Dr. Brunson’s AP Humanities class emphasizes both written and spoken eloquence so, with every essay they write, students must deliver spoken formal presentations of their essays (without notes) in business attire. Most recently, the class focused on Charles Dickens’ Hard Times as a fictional metaphor of the Industrial Revolution. Karl Marx (Ty Overbeek) also made a special appearance which added some humor to the lectures. The students above did their written and formal presentations on the following topics:
Noah Engelhardt- “The Decline of Religion and Beauty in the Industrial Revolution Illustrated by Architecture”
Bailey Gunter – “Fading Faith in the Industrial Revolution”
Alan Zhu – “The Violent and Barbarous Imperialism of Great Britain in the Opium Wars”
Lori Wise – “Rampant Diseases and Emerging Treatments in the Industrial Revolution”
Mikayla Willis – “The Pre-Raphaelite Brotherhood and Romanticism in Nature”
Ty Overbeek – “Ten Planks of the Communist Manifesto.”
