Light, Lenses & AP Physics

Students in AP Physics 2 are currently exploring how the distance between a light sources and a lens creates different types of images. This lab specifically focuses on virtual images, an optical illusion where your eye tricks itself into thinking that an image forms in front of a lens. Using a light source, a lab bench, and two different types of lenses, students were able to predict the size, orientation, and type of image that would form, explain how the image would form using ray diagrams, and then verify that their prediction was correct.
