Middle School Retreat is Just Around the Calendar

From the desk of Tammy Hayes, Middle School Principal:

Middle School Retreat at Frontier Camp in Grapeland, Texas is coming around the calendar, October 13 & 14, 2016.  MS Retreat has become one of the cornerstones for building a strong “middle” each year at The Brook Hill School.  Along with our commitment to student academics, athletics, and arts, we strive to give our students opportunities to build strong relationships within our community and become well-rounded in all they do.  Through the retreat each year, students are given opportunities to interact socially with their teachers outside the regular classroom, play together in unique environments with intentional challenges meant to stretch their norms, and consider God’s word through meaningful conversations led by advisory leaders, the principal and the campus life director.

Our goal is to build structures of mutual respect, friendship, gratitude, and community between our faculty and students for the rest of the year around what happens at this retreat. Students are encouraged to make new friends and challenged to move out of their comfort zones throughout the two-day event. This year’s theme is BRAVE! This stands for our call to all in our school community to be BRAVE: Bold, Redemptive, Armored-Up, Vested, and Eternally-minded. We will focus this year at retreat on the letter “A” –Armored-Up exhorting our students to “put on the whole armor of God” as they attempt to live out our guard charge each day.
