Middle School Science

Our middle school students hit the ground running in science class this week with some interactive labs!

Eighth graders are studying the reason for the seasons by manipulating a flashlight which represents the Sun and a Styrofoam model Earth.  Students could see first-hand where the direct rays of the Sun hit the Earth during different times of the year, helping them see why it is colder and warmer as the seasons change.

Sixth graders are studying the transformation of energy by constructing electrical circuits with a battery, bulb and wires.  Students had to identify every time the energy was changed into another form of energy within the circuit.  Then, they experimented with different switches in their circuits such as a simple switch, pressure switch and dimmer switch.
