Middle School Serves Up Christmas Fun

Middle school students spent the day hosting prekindergarten and kindergarten aged children at their newest event, the Happy Birthday Jesus Party! Children from both The Brook Hill School and the Bullard Daycare joined middle school students for a party to celebrate the real focus of Christmas, the Christ child. Middle school students hosted parties by grade level as a service opportunity in which they led in a variety of activities all designed to point children back to the real focus of Christmas, activities such as caroling, listening to middle school orchestra ensembles play familiar songs of cheer, and a short dramatic skit narrating the birth of Jesus. A party isn’t a party without dancing and cake, so BH middle led the children in the Santa Shuffle as well as singing Happy Birthday Jesus in front of a faux cake constructed to look very real by new art teacher, Suzanne Shelton. Middle school students learned a valuable lesson today:  it is better to give than to receive; and that when we serve others, it blesses both the giver and the receiver!

Events like these offer more than just festive fun—they help young children feel a sense of belonging and joy during a season that can be both exciting and overwhelming. For many preschoolers, experiences like singing, storytelling, and group play become formative memories, shaping their understanding of community and celebration. These shared moments also offer valuable social and emotional learning, as little ones practice taking turns, listening, and expressing themselves in new environments.

For families with younger children, especially babies and toddlers, the need for nurturing spaces continues long before the school-age years. High-quality infant care provides not just supervision, but also early developmental support in language, motor skills, and emotional security. When even the youngest children are welcomed into environments that celebrate creativity, compassion, and connection, it lays a foundation for future learning and relationship-building.
