In second grade, students study the life of Moses. This week students learned how the Israelite slaves were finally set free from slavery by Pharaoh. As Moses and the Israelites traveled across Egypt, the Red Sea, and the Desert of Sinai into the Promised Land, students were able to see real images of these historical land marks using Google Earth. Not only did we realize the distance between Egypt and God’s promised land Canaan, students were able to view the Mediterranean Sea, Great Pyramids, the Sphinx, the Nile River, current Day Cairo and Israel. Students also learned about Ancient Egypt with the help of our friends Annie and Moby in BrainPop Jr., a website offering many resources and short videos about virtually any topic or unit of study.
