Never a Dull Weekend
From the desk of Shawn Rhoads, Director of Residential Life:
So much happening in the Boarding World at Brook Hill!
If you ever wonder if the boarding students are stuck in the houses on evenings and weekends with nothing to do, think again. In addition to the on campus competitions, like football contests, soccer matches and basketball games, we offer lots of activities, events and excursions on weekends for the boarding students to enjoy. Don’t just take my word for it. Check out this month’s entertainment options!
This coming weekend the students can choose from the following options, or enjoy all of them if they like:
- Fresh Friday – each Friday night anyone who wants can go to Fresh and hit the taco bar, sandwich bar, gelato bar, coffee café or just to shop.
- Star Wars – The Force Awakens, no description needed
- Main Event in Plano – here students can bowl, play billiards, shuffle board, laser tag or a vast array of arcade games as well as feast on pizza.
- Laser Tag on campus – this will be the second time we have on campus Laser Tag. It was a big hit the first time se we are going to make this a regular activity
Weekend of the 16th
- Fresh Friday, again
- Galleria Shopping Mall – this gigantic shopping mall has a competition size skating rink also, for the kids to enjoy
- Dallas Asian Market – this market has a variety of different Asian shops including selections from China and Korea
- Movies – the selection will be based on what is showing that week
Weekend of the 23rd
- Fresh Friday
- Dallas Mavericks vs. Oklahoma Thunder – this is a professional basketball game featuring the talents of Kevin Durant and Dirk Nowitzki
- Village Water Park – this is an indoor, climate controlled water park with a lazy river, lots of slides and a number of other fun water attractions
- Movies
In addition to all this there are also two local shopping runs into town and open fitness facilities each week night.
Whew! That’s tiring just typing it all up. Day students are also welcome to join in the fun. Just drop by Mrs. White’s office in the Res Life Suite to find out how you can get involved.
Have fun!
