Orchestra Wins at Regionals
The Brook Hill Orchestra rocked at this past Saturday’s Texas Music Educators Association (TMEA) 2015 All-Region Orchestra auditions resulting in each of our 6 MS Orchestra participants earning a spot in the 2015 TMEA MS All-Region Orchestra and 6 of our U.S. Orchestra students also qualifying as members of the 2015 TMEA HS All-Region Orchestra!
This is a huge and difficult competition involving public, private & home schooled string students from 10 different cities playing individually for a panel of judges and are evaluated & ranked on their performance of excerpts from challenging Region concert music repertoire which is learned in addition to & outside the regular orchestra class assignments.
This year there were over 150 MS students (90 violin entrants!) competing for spots and HS students were challenged to learn professional level music.
Here are Brook Hill’s outstanding results– Earning places in the 2015 TMEA All-Region HS Orchestra: violist, James Shipp; violinists Minseo Kwak & Seeun Kim placing in the 2nd violin section and Denise Tan & Hannah Windsor placing in the 1st violin section and cellist, Alex Ellis earning 4th chair!
Earning places in the 2015 TMEA All-Region MS Orchestra: violist, KaNeccia Barnes; cellist, Hayden Gardner-3rd chair! Violinists (out of 90!) Ruby Timmons-19th, Jackson Fath-12th, Colm Conneen-9th & Cole Fitzgerald-2nd chair!
Please congratulate these outstanding musicians and students when you see them.
You are also invited to support and celebrate them at their All -Region Orchestra concert held at Longview HS auditorium on Saturday, Dec 5, free 4:30pm performance.
