As an introduction to Romanticism, students in Mrs. Huggins Humanities class explored elements of poetry in music. During class, students listened to a variety of songs, discussed poetry terms, and then identified figurative language and sound devices within the lines of music. The class also discussed how they use and enjoy poetry every day in the music they listen to, giving them a broader picture of language, literature, and poetry in their lives. We hope lessons like these help our students connect personal experience and the classroom in ways they haven’t before!
