Brook Hill’s 17th Annual Fall Dinner Theatre is set to open on Thursday November 12th and run through Saturday November 14th. Our drama department will not only feature a fine cuisine, but an incredible production of “Shrew”.

The selected play is a musical adaptation of William Shakespeare’s classic, The Taming of the Shrew. It features Brook Hill newcomer Chloe McKinley in the title role, and senior Jonathan Sanders as the “macho man” Petruchio who tries to tame her without breaking her fiery spirit. Brook Hill veterans Sheri Russell, Kyle Webb, Elaina Yeager, Justin Powell, Winslow Conneen, Alex Ellis and Liz Merritt are also featured. Natalie Kirkpatrick, Annaka Willis and James Shipp appear in their first dinner theatre show. The production will also feature live musical accompaniment by Mrs. Patti Eden and several student musicians.

The first-class meal is once again being prepared by our own caterer, Susan Gardner along with Brook Hill Alumnus and student of the Le Cordon Bleu College of Culinary Arts in Austin, Daniel Gardner. The menu has been inspired by the Italian setting of the play and will feature various bruschetta appetizers, a grilled marinated chicken breast served on angel hair pasta with an Italian butter sauce, along with grilled zucchini and piping-hot fresh French bread. The dessert will be a spiced baked apple served a la mode.

The director of the play, Glenn Ballard, said, “For this year’s fall dinner theatre we have selected a very funny play and one that will give my actors and our patrons a nice taste of Shakespeare. The language is a bit more contemporary than the Bard’s original dialogue, but the play still has the flavor and style of the Shakespearian masterpiece. The cast is strong, the sets and costumes are eye-popping, and the music is really fun. I feel quite sure it will be a real crowd-pleaser.”

Performances will be on Thursday through Saturday nights, November 12th – 14th. Dinner will be served from 6:15 pm to 7:15 pm with a 7:30 pm curtain time.

Tickets range in price from $ 20 toward the back of the room to $ 50 per seat at the front row tables. And premium table sponsorships are available by contacting Karen Kilgore at (903)780-1903. But if the past dinner theatre productions are any indication, this year’s show and meal will be more than worth it.
